10 TRICKS NAIROBBERY USES TO MINT MONEY FROM NAIVE INNOCENT GUYS FROM THE COUNTRY SIDE

A visitor travelling to Nairobi should be aware of such tricks used by conmen of the city to diddle or to snitch from innocent visitors.
1.A while ago while walking through to NSSF I met this funnily looking men and they were like I have won a charity sweepstake worth ksh 100000 they had the 'FAKE' ticket and they claimed they didn't know where The Kenya Charity Sweeptake head office is located and they wanted me to show it to them. They usually Tells people that since they doesn’t have the ID you collect the money for him and take maybe half or quarter (depending on how greedy he thinks you are). You go to the offices but before you get in he insists you have to leave him some security since he doesn’t know you, either some money or valuable, maybe phone. The card is fake, umeibiwa. Being that I had alot of busy schedule in my Head i never gave them a listening ear i never became their prey.
2.Some  Guys drop coins in a Matatu and as you help pick, your pockets or bag is being emptied. If you are still Naive in the city,Hapa ni Nairobi. At one point a lady was travelling from KNH to Kenya Science carrying her school bag.The bag had a laptop inside it, a guy who seemed to have been trailing her pretended she had dropped a coin and when this innocent lady just tried to help that is the time her bag moved a distance from her luckily enough she saw it and alarmed and other passengers helped her get back her bag.The guy was later handed over to the police.A helping hand in good faith can lead you to be washed easily.
3. In matatus guys suddenly shouts there is a crackdown and people should fasten the safety belts, as you struggle to look for yours, your pockets are being emptied. Some even pretend to help you fasten the belt while their other hand is busy in your pocket or bag. This guys have connections even with the said drivers and conductors as they divide the loot.
4.Beware of guys reading newspapers in matatus spreading them to you or carrying big envelopes (x-ray type) and placing them covering you or part of your bag or pocket. This is the time they can get accessed to your pocket and empty it with No Mercy.
5.Some guy dropping an envelope with cash, another picks and tells you to go and share, they will either take you to a corridor and rob you or give you the envelope to go into a kanjo toilet to divide but they will insist you leave them with your valuables. The envelope contains papers and single visible note money.
6.Guys playing cards by swapping them. One is thrown down and you are requested to help pick. They pretend to thank you by giving you 200bob but you have to show equivalent. Then told to show the right card and you can never win. They guys around them are their accomplices. Don’t be fooled. (Embakasi bypass outside Nakumatt).I was once a victim of this.I think this guys sedates or rather use tranquilizers or hypnotics medications that act as central nervous system depressants in order to make one unconscious.Kaa Macho hapa ni NAIROBI.
7.There is an old lady who will approach you, request you to dial a number for her son so she picks her. You dial the number and it goes through but isn’t picked. You leave and get into a matatu. Unknown to you the accomplice(s) gets into the same matatu ,claims his phone has been stolen and asks one to dial his number(your number), your phone rings and before you explain or prove anything, the mob is acting on you proper.( Kencom ambassador area). This has always been played in the media to acts as a warning to guys.
8. A person stops you and asks for directions to a Media house or stadium or uhuru park or childrens home where he says he is headed and he is a popular man of God. Before you tell him anything another person (accomplice) passes by and pretends to know him from the good work he does for charity and helping people. You are then told a lot of problems that you have and told to either pray somewhere or help a beggar leaving you belongings to them, or some brainwashed and part with money.Hapo umecheswa if you leave for them your belonging.
9.You receive a call from a person claiming to be from safaricom but uses either unregistered AIRTEL LINE or ORANGE. He tells you to go to ATM withdrawal in the MPESA menu and key in either 555 555 or 286286.(Pesapoint and equity agent numbers respectively.) you get an authorization code which they tell you to read for them to finish the activation of the service for you. They even warn you that your pin is your secret and you should not even give it to them.
10.Receive some sms claiming, ‘Auntie or uncle, mototo ameumwa na nyoka nitumie 50bob airtime nipigie mtu wa boda boda. Hii ni maabusu ya kamiti.’
