The 31-year old striker has put pen to paper on an initial one-year contract that will see him represent the online bookmaker in various functions around the country.
Oliech, scorer of the famous goal that propelled Kenya to the 2004 African Cup of Nations, said of his new appointment: “Betway is a major brand that I am proud to be associated with. This is also a great opportunity for me to start another chapter in my career.”
Betway Group CEO Richard Akittsaid: “Signing a Kenyan legend like Dennis Oliech is another significant coup for Betway and we’re looking forward to working with Dennis over the course of the next 12 months.”
“Betway is a world-class brand that is growing rapidly in Kenya and having Dennis alongside us only serves to underline our commitment to the country.”
Oliech was first capped by Kenya as a 17-year old and has amassed a record 34 goals in his 68 appearances to date.
The Nairobi native’s goal against Cape Verde secured the Harambee Stars’ sole appearance at an African Cup of Nations tournament in 2004.
