UoN ranked among the top 200 universities

UoN is among the top 200 institutions in the 48 countries included in these rankings.
The inclusion of University of Nairobi in the THE BRICS & Emerging Economies rankings is a significant achievement. In Kenya, it is only the University of Nairobi that made it to the ranking while South Africa had six Universities. The University of Nairobi’s place in this ranking of the best research-led universities in the developing world is a significant achievement.
Institutions from the 48 countries classified as emerging economies (advanced and secondary) or “frontier economies” are ranked by FTSE. But institutions from only 35 of these countries made the final top 200 list.
The ranking uses the same 13 rigorous performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, examining each university’s strengths against all of its core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. But the methodology has been carefully recalibrated to better reflect the characteristics and development priorities of universities in developing economies. More weight is given, for example, to a university’s industry links and international outlook.
